My grandmother, coming from a long line of seamstrix, began teaching me to sew when I was about 5. I only occasionally dabbled in sewing until I was lucky enough to get into LaGuardia HS - Music, Art & the Preforming Arts in NYC where my love for arts & crafts grew further. I even went as far as going to FIT for college but realized the hi-end/mainstream fashion design life wasn't for me!
Now I enjoy making my victorian-styled bears with modern twists, costuming garments/accessories, and whatever else strikes my fancy. My main style influences are Lolita/Kodona, Gothic, Victorian/Steampunk & Renaissance but that doesn't stop me from pulling inspiration from everywhere and anything. Recycling, reclaiming and refashioning whenever I can!
Many of my items are one or few of a kind due to the fact that a lot of the fabrics I use are bolt ends, factory samples, discontinued or vintage fabrics that would have otherwise gone the way of the landfill. Recycle, reclaim, refashion! So if you see something you like grab it up before it's gone for good at SWStitchery.Etsy.com.
I do occasionally make Friends Only posts which are usually sneak peeks of projects I'm working on. So feel free to add me or leave a comment or two!
